How to build and implement an eQMS: efficiency, compliance and data integrity – Replay

Use case

Unused equipment valuation

The application allows for financial gain through resource optimization: internal reuse and external resale of unused equipment. A tailored ‘e-commerce platform for refurbished equipment’ has been created.

Context of the digitalization request

Our client, an international biopharmaceutical company with three production sites in France, is initiating its second project with GxpManager.

The first project involved managing a business interruption. Our client utilized a custom-made application by GxpManager to oversee the dismantling of certain production facilities. This comprehensive project management solution simplified supervision, planning, and tracking of the dismantling process. Each step was meticulously tracked, from emptying the plants to demolishing the buildings. The application also facilitated monitoring key indicators and reliability statistics, generating precise reports.

Building on this successful experience, our client chose to trust GxpManager again for their new project: the valuation of unused/refurbished equipment during the dismantling of production plants.

Challenges

This dismantling led to storing a large number of high-value machines and equipment (ranging from bioreactors to simple screws).

Aligned with the group’s ambitious sustainability goals, a responsible waste reduction approach was defined, prompting our client to seek value from this unused equipment. GxpManager was engaged to design an application enabling the valorization of refurbished equipment and organizing their transfer. This initiative aligns with our client’s continuous commitment to investing in digitization, automation, and innovation.

The application solution

Our client aims to establish an internal e-commerce-like platform. The goal is to manage material transfers both internally and externally:

  • Internal: Employees can autonomously interact from posting refurbished equipment to deciding to reserve equipment for another unit. Each equipment reservation request requires dual validation: approval from the requesting employee’s superior and confirmation from the equipment manager to initiate the transfer procedure (a 2-step workflow).
  • External: Sales and donations of equipment or individual parts to other companies, as well as managing discarded materials.
